Season 8 of '24' has been paused whilst Kiefer Sutherland undergoes surgery to remove a cyst near his Kidneys. The surgery is not urgent and Kiefer isn't mentioned to be in any danger. Fox believes this temporary suspension in the shows production will not affect the broadcast schedule.

 | Kiefer on new sets Posted: 14/07/09 : 11:13 PM
Kiefer Sutherland’s a few weeks into shooting the new season of 24 (premiering January 2010) and is raving about the new sets. “The new U.N. is very cool,” reports Kiefer. “I was quite awestruck when I saw the set for the first time. The designs are so tasteful and represent such a diverse political spectrum, literally matching samples of graffiti taken from the ruins of the Berlin Wall. A lot of thought went into it.” The actor says the show has been granted permission to shoot at the real U.N. in New York City, but says “we’ll probably use that primarily for exteriors.” The new season will also see sleek new Counter Terrorism Unit headquarters, where new agents/lovers Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff will be based.

 | Katee Sackhoff to co-star on 24 Posted: 09/06/09 : 10:53 PM
Jack Bauer will be getting help from Starbuck next season.
In a casting straight out of fan central, Katee Sackhoff, best known for her role as Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace on 'Battlestar Galactica,' has been tapped to co-star on another series with a big fan following, Fox's '24.'
Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, a smart, competent, expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
This marks the final major casting of a new regular for the 20th TV/Imagine TV series' upcoming eighth season, which is in production.
Sackhoff was close to committing to '24' a week ago, but with another lucrative offer from a cable network on the table, she took herself out of contention to mull her options.

She restarted her talks with 20th TV on Friday and was cast Monday on '24.'
Sackhoff starts filming Wednesday on the series starring Kiefer Sutherland. She joins fellow new cast members Prinze, Jennifer Westfeldt, Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd and Chris Diamantopoulos.
Sackhoff most recently toplined NBC's pilot 'Lost and Found.'
She is managed by Bleu and also repped by attorney Darren Trattner.
